About
Here at First Light we’ve been involved in bespoke software development for more years than any of us care to remember.
Since 2000 we have been primarily focused around Java – which has evolved to be so much more than just a programming language with many libraries covering everything from the mobile workspace to enterprise strength applications.
Coupled with Open Source projects such as
- Frameworks like Spring and Hibernate,
- Testing tools such as JUnit and JMockit,
- Continuous Integration suites like Hudson
- Build Management tools like Maven and Ant
we find that we are able to develop more sophisticated products with fractions of the effort that would have been required 10 years ago. Heady change indeed.
At the beginning of this new decade even more change seems afoot – as the worlds of telephony, computing and media converge via the overlap of the internet, television and mobile devices.
Here in this blog we want to share our experiences with the many tools and frameworks that we use, and hopefully you will share your experiences with us also.
We will also be exploring our involvement with the new developments taking place in mobile devices especially Android powered devices like the new Google Nexus One phone.
We may also find some time to talk about non-technology related topics. Mind you my wife doesn’t believe that is possible for me.
