What do we mean when we talk about E-Business? In practical terms, it is the use of computers to enable your business. A growing area in software is Open Source. We can aid you in selecting, implementing, integrating and then, most importantly, successfully running systems made from Open Source components. Much of this 'licence free' software is of good quality and will greatly benefit your business, it enables you to spend your money on tailoring solutions to your circumstances rather than paying for one-size-fits-all software packages.

Office Applications

Do you use Microsoft Office? Are you going to pay for all those licence fees when it needs upgrading? Can you actually make it do anything more complicated than just produce Word documents or Excel spreadsheets? Consider the Open Source alternative. It will cost you nothing in licence fees and we can write software for you that will use it.

For example, one company used to extract data from their database then cut and paste it into a Word report for presentation to their clients. First Light built them a system to translate their data into a Word-compatible OpenOffice.org document, pulling in graphics and charts at the same time, completely removing their need to manually edit documents. Suddenly their potential capacity increased and they were able to ramp-up their business and cope with hundreds more requests a week.
